    40S Ribosomal Protein S19

Encoded by human RPS19 Gene (S19E Family), 144-aa 16-kDa cytoplasmic Ribosomal Protein S19 is a component of the 40S ribosomal subunit. S19 lacks cysteine residues and has a possible function in erythropoietic differentiation and proliferation. Composed of small 40S and large 60S subunits containing 4 rRNAs and approximately 80 proteins, ribosomes catalyze protein synthesis. (NCI Thesaurus)
