    78 kDa Glucose-Regulated Protein

78 kDa glucose-regulated protein (654 aa, ~72kDa) is encoded by HSPA5 gene. The protein is intracellularly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum lumen, and plays a role in the assembly of multimeric protein complexes inside the organelle. In addition, the protein is thought to function as a pro-survival protein, or an inhibitor of apoptosis. (NCI Thesaurus)
