    Insight

    “චත්තාරෝමේ, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා. කතමේ චත්තාරෝ? අත්ථි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පරිඤ්ඤේය්‍යා; අත්ථි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පහාතබ්බා; අත්ථි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා භාවේතබ්බා; අත්ථි, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා සච්ඡිකාතබ්බා.

    “Bhikkhus, there are these four things. What four? There are things that should be completely understood by direct knowledge. There are things that should be given up by direct knowledge. There are things that should be developed by direct knowledge. There are things that should be realized by direct knowledge.

    කතමේ ච, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පරිඤ්ඤේය්‍යා? පඤ්චුපාදානක්ඛන්ධා—ඉමේ වුච්චන්ති, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පරිඤ්ඤේය්‍යා.

    And what are the things that should be completely understood by direct knowledge? The five grasping aggregates. These are called the things that should be completely understood by direct knowledge.

    කතමේ ච, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පහාතබ්බා? අවිජ්ජා ච භවතණ්හා ච—ඉමේ වුච්චන්ති, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා පහාතබ්බා.

    And what are the things that should be given up by direct knowledge? Ignorance and craving for continued existence. These are called the things that should be given up by direct knowledge.

    කතමේ ච, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා භාවේතබ්බා? සමථෝ ච විපස්සනා ච—ඉමේ වුච්චන්ති, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා භාවේතබ්බා.

    And what are the things that should be developed by direct knowledge? Serenity and discernment. These are called the things that should be developed by direct knowledge.

    කතමේ ච, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා සච්ඡිකාතබ්බා? විජ්ජා ච විමුත්ති ච—ඉමේ වුච්චන්ති, භික්ඛවේ, ධම්මා අභිඤ්ඤා සච්ඡිකාතබ්බා.

    And what are the things that should be realized by direct knowledge? Knowledge and freedom. These are called the things that should be realized by direct knowledge.

    ඉමේ ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, චත්තාරෝ ධම්මා”ති.

    These are the four things.”
