Fire
“पञ्चिमे, भिक्खवे, आदीनवा अग्गिस्मिं। कतमे पञ्च? अचक्खुस्सो, दुब्बण्णकरणो, दुब्बलकरणो, सङ्गणिकापवड्ढनो, तिरच्छानकथापवत्तनिको होति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्च आदीनवा अग्गिस्मिन्”ति।
“Pañcime, bhikkhave, ādīnavā aggismiṁ. Katame pañca? Acakkhusso, dubbaṇṇakaraṇo, dubbalakaraṇo, saṅgaṇikāpavaḍḍhano, tiracchānakathāpavattaniko hoti. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ādīnavā aggismin”ti.
“Bhikkhus, there are these five drawbacks of a fire. What five? It’s bad for your eyes. It’s bad for your complexion. It makes you weak. It draws in groups. And it encourages low talk. These are the five drawbacks of a fire.”
