    Grounds for Resentment

    “නවයිමානි, භික්ඛවේ, ආඝාතවත්ථූනි. කතමානි නව? ‘අනත්ථං මේ අචරී(අ)ති ආඝාතං බන්ධති; ‘අනත්ථං මේ චරතී(අ)ති ආඝාතං බන්ධති; ‘අනත්ථං මේ චරිස්සතී(අ)ති ආඝාතං බන්ධති; ‘පියස්ස මේ මනාපස්ස අනත්ථං අචරී(අ)ති …පේ… ‘අනත්ථං චරතී(අ)ති …පේ… ‘අනත්ථං චරිස්සතී(අ)ති ආඝාතං බන්ධති; ‘අප්පියස්ස මේ අමනාපස්ස අත්ථං අචරී(අ)ති …පේ… ‘අත්ථං චරතී(අ)ති …පේ… ‘අත්ථං චරිස්සතී(අ)ති ආඝාතං බන්ධති. ඉමානි ඛෝ, භික්ඛවේ, නව ආඝාතවත්ථූනී”ති.

    “Bhikkhus, there are nine grounds for resentment. What nine? Thinking: ‘They did wrong to me,’ you harbor resentment. Thinking: ‘They are doing wrong to me’ … ‘They will do wrong to me’ … ‘They did wrong to someone I love’ … ‘They are doing wrong to someone I love’ … ‘They will do wrong to someone I love’ … ‘They helped someone I dislike’ … ‘They are helping someone I dislike’ … Thinking: ‘They will help someone I dislike,’ you harbor resentment. These are the nine grounds for resentment.”
