    Āhuneyyasutta

    Worthy of Offerings Dedicated to the Gods

    “नवयिमे, भिक्खवे, पुग्गला आहुनेय्या पाहुनेय्या दक्खिणेय्या अञ्जलिकरणीया अनुत्तरं पुञ्ञक्खेत्तं लोकस्स। कतमे नव? अरहा, अरहत्ताय पटिपन्नो, अनागामी, अनागामिफलसच्छिकिरियाय पटिपन्नो, सकदागामी, सकदागामिफलसच्छिकिरियाय पटिपन्नो, सोतापन्नो, सोतापत्तिफलसच्छिकिरियाय पटिपन्नो, गोत्रभू—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, नव पुग्गला आहुनेय्या …पे… अनुत्तरं पुञ्ञक्खेत्तं लोकस्सा”ति।

    “Navayime, bhikkhave, puggalā āhuneyyā pāhuneyyā dakkhiṇeyyā añjalikaraṇīyā anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassa. Katame nava? Arahā, arahattāya paṭipanno, anāgāmī, anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, sakadāgāmī, sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, sotāpanno, sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyāya paṭipanno, gotrabhū—ime kho, bhikkhave, nava puggalā āhuneyyā …pe… anuttaraṁ puññakkhettaṁ lokassā”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, these nine people are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world. What nine? The perfected one and the one practicing for perfection. The non-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of non-return. The once-returner and the one practicing to realize the fruit of once-return. The stream-enterer and the one practicing to realize the fruit of stream-entry. And a member of the spiritual family. These are the nine people who are worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of greeting with joined palms, and are the supreme field of merit for the world.”

    Tassuddānaṁ

    सम्बोधि निस्सयो चेव, मेघिय नन्दकं बलं; सेवना सुतवा सज्झो, पुग्गलो आहुनेय्येन चाति।
