    Ālokasutta

    Light

    “चत्तारोमे, भिक्खवे, आलोका। कतमे चत्तारो? चन्दालोको, सूरियालोको, अग्गालोको, पञ्ञालोको—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, चत्तारो आलोका। एतदग्गं, भिक्खवे, इमेसं चतुन्नं आलोकानं यदिदं पञ्ञालोको”ति।

    “Cattārome, bhikkhave, ālokā. Katame cattāro? Candāloko, sūriyāloko, aggāloko, paññāloko—Ime kho, bhikkhave, cattāro ālokā. Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ catunnaṁ ālokānaṁ yadidaṁ paññāloko”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, there are these four lights. What four? The lights of the moon, sun, fire, and wisdom. These are the four lights. The best of these four lights is the light of wisdom.”
