    Aphthovirus

    Definition 1

    A genus of non-enveloped, spherical viruses with T=pseudo3 icosahedral capsid, in the family Picornaviridae. The genome is composed of a linear, single-strand of positive sense, naked RNA. Aphthoviruses are found in cloven-hooved animals and cause foot-and-mouth disease in humans. (NCI Thesaurus)
