    ២៤។ អាវាសិកវគ្គ

    24. A Resident Bhikkhu

    ពហូបការសុត្ត

    Very Helpful

    “បញ្ចហិ, ភិក្ខវេ, ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ អាវាសិកោ ភិក្ខុ អាវាសស្ស ពហូបការោ ហោតិ។ កតមេហិ បញ្ចហិ?

    “Bhikkhus, a resident bhikkhu with five qualities is very helpful to the monastery. What five?

    សីលវា ហោតិ …បេ… សមាទាយ សិក្ខតិ សិក្ខាបទេសុ;

    They’re ethical, restrained in the monastic code, conducting themselves well and seeking alms in suitable places. Seeing danger in the slightest fault, they keep the rules they’ve undertaken.

    ពហុស្សុតោ ហោតិ …បេ… ទិដ្ឋិយា សុប្បដិវិទ្ធា;

    They’re very learned, remembering and keeping what they’ve learned. These teachings are good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, meaningful and well-phrased, describing a spiritual practice that’s totally full and pure. They are very learned in such teachings, remembering them, reciting them, mentally scrutinizing them, and comprehending them theoretically.

    ខណ្ឌផុល្លំ បដិសង្ខរោតិ;

    They repair what is decayed and damaged.

    មហា ខោ បន ភិក្ខុសង្ឃោ អភិក្កន្តោ នានាវេរជ្ជកា ភិក្ខូ គិហីនំ ឧបសង្កមិត្វា អារោចេតិ:

    When a large bhikkhu Saṅgha is arriving with bhikkhus from abroad, they go to the lay people and announce:

    ‘មហា ខោ, អាវុសោ, ភិក្ខុសង្ឃោ អភិក្កន្តោ នានាវេរជ្ជកា ភិក្ខូ, ករោថ បុញ្ញានិ, សមយោ បុញ្ញានិ កាតុន៑ៜតិ;

    ‘A large bhikkhu Saṅgha is arriving with bhikkhus from abroad. Make merit! Now is the time to make merit!’

    ចតុន្នំ ឈានានំ អាភិចេតសិកានំ ទិដ្ឋធម្មសុខវិហារានំ និកាមលាភី ហោតិ អកិច្ឆលាភី អកសិរលាភី។

    They get the four jhānas—blissful meditations in the present life that belong to the higher mind—when they want, without trouble or difficulty.

    ឥមេហិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, បញ្ចហិ ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ អាវាសិកោ ភិក្ខុ អាវាសស្ស ពហូបការោ ហោតី”តិ។

    A resident bhikkhu with these five qualities is very helpful to the monastery.”

    ចតុត្ថំ។
