“द्वेमे, भिक्खवे, बाला। कतमे द्वे? यो च अनागतं भारं वहति, यो च आगतं भारं न वहति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, द्वे बाला”ति।
“Dveme, bhikkhave, bālā. Katame dve? Yo ca anāgataṁ bhāraṁ vahati, yo ca āgataṁ bhāraṁ na vahati. Ime kho, bhikkhave, dve bālā”ti.
“Bhikkhus, there are two fools. What two? One who takes responsibility for what has not come to pass, and one who doesn’t take responsibility for what has come to pass. These are the two fools.”

“Dvinnaṁ, bhikkhave, āsavā vaḍḍhanti. Katamesaṁ dvinnaṁ? Yo ca na kukkuccāyitabbaṁ kukkuccāyati, yo ca kukkuccāyitabbaṁ na kukkuccāyati. Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, dvinnaṁ āsavā vaḍḍhantī”ti.
“For these two, defilements grow. What two? One who is remorseful over something they shouldn’t be, and one who isn’t remorseful over something they should be. These are the two whose defilements grow.”

“For these two, defilements don’t grow. What two? One who isn’t remorseful over something they shouldn’t be, and one who is remorseful over something they should be. These are the two whose defilements don’t grow.”
