“Bhikkhus, you should not frequent a person who has ten qualities. … you should frequent … you should not pay homage … you should pay homage … you should not venerate … you should venerate … you should not praise … you should praise … you should not respect … you should respect … you should not revere … you should revere … is not a success … is a success … is not pure … is pure … does not win over conceit … wins over conceit … does not grow in wisdom … grows in wisdom …
बहुं अपुञ्ञं पसवति … बहुं पुञ्ञं पसवति। कतमेहि दसहि? सम्मादिट्ठिको होति, सम्मासङ्कप्पो होति, सम्मावाचो होति, सम्माकम्मन्तो होति, सम्माआजीवो होति, सम्मावायामो होति, सम्मासति होति, सम्मासमाधि होति, सम्माञाणी होति, सम्माविमुत्ति होति—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, दसहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो पुग्गलो बहुं पुञ्ञं पसवती”ति।
Bahuṁ apuññaṁ pasavati … bahuṁ puññaṁ pasavati. Katamehi dasahi? Sammādiṭṭhiko hoti, sammāsaṅkappo hoti, sammāvāco hoti, sammākammanto hoti, sammāājīvo hoti, sammāvāyāmo hoti, sammāsati hoti, sammāsamādhi hoti, sammāñāṇī hoti, sammāvimutti hoti—imehi kho, bhikkhave, dasahi dhammehi samannāgato puggalo bahuṁ puññaṁ pasavatī”ti.
makes much bad karma … makes much merit. What ten? Right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right immersion, right knowledge, and right freedom. A person who has these ten qualities makes much merit.”
पुग्गलवग्गो पठमो।
