    A Nun

    “पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागता भिक्खुनी …पे… सिक्खमाना … सामणेरो … सामणेरी … उपासको … उपासिका यथाभतं निक्खित्ता एवं निरये। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? पाणातिपातिनी होति, अदिन्नादायिनी होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारिनी होति, मुसावादिनी होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठायिनी होति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागता उपासिका यथाभतं निक्खित्ता एवं निरये।

    “Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgatā bhikkhunī …pe… sikkhamānā … sāmaṇero … sāmaṇerī … upāsako … upāsikā yathābhataṁ nikkhittā evaṁ niraye. Katamehi pañcahi? Pāṇātipātinī hoti, adinnādāyinī hoti, kāmesumicchācārinī hoti, musāvādinī hoti, surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāyinī hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgatā upāsikā yathābhataṁ nikkhittā evaṁ niraye.

    “A nun … trainee nun … novice monk … novice nun … layman … laywoman … with five qualities is cast down to hell. What five? They kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, and use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. With these five qualities they’re cast down to hell.

    पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागता उपासिका यथाभतं निक्खित्ता एवं सग्गे। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? पाणातिपाता पटिविरता होति, अदिन्नादाना पटिविरता होति, कामेसुमिच्छाचारा पटिविरता होति, मुसावादा पटिविरता होति, सुरामेरयमज्जपमादट्ठाना पटिविरता होति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागता उपासिका यथाभतं निक्खित्ता एवं सग्गे”ति।

Pāṇātipātā paṭiviratā hoti, adinnādānā paṭiviratā hoti, kāmesumicchācārā paṭiviratā hoti, musāvādā paṭiviratā hoti, surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhānā paṭiviratā hoti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgatā upāsikā yathābhataṁ nikkhittā evaṁ sagge”ti.

They don’t kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, or use alcoholic drinks that cause negligence. With these five qualities they’re raised up to heaven.”
