    Bone morphogenetic protein 6, encoded by the BMP6 gene, is a member of the TGF-beta family. It has strong similarity to murine Bmp6, signals through receptor serine/threonine kinases, and is involved in endochondral bone formation. (NCI Thesaurus/LocusLink)
