Burkholderia pseudomallei

A species of aerobic, Gram-negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile, non-spore forming, oxidase and catalase positive and indole negative. B. pseudomallei is found in contaminated soil, water, and produce and causes melioidosis in humans with the highest rate of disease occurring in southeast Asia. (NCI Thesaurus)
