Catutthahitasutta
The Welfare of Both
“पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु अत्तहिताय च पटिपन्नो होति परहिताय च। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु अत्तना च सीलसम्पन्नो होति, परञ्च सीलसम्पदाय समादपेति; अत्तना च समाधिसम्पन्नो होति, परञ्च समाधिसम्पदाय समादपेति, अत्तना च पञ्ञासम्पन्नो होति, परञ्च पञ्ञासम्पदाय समादपेति; अत्तना च विमुत्तिसम्पन्नो होति, परञ्च विमुत्तिसम्पदाय समादपेति; अत्तना च विमुत्तिञाणदस्सनसम्पन्नो होति, परञ्च विमुत्तिञाणदस्सनसम्पदाय समादपेति। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु अत्तहिताय च पटिपन्नो होति परहिताय चा”ति।
“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu attahitāya ca paṭipanno hoti parahitāya ca. Katamehi pañcahi? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu attanā ca sīlasampanno hoti, parañca sīlasampadāya samādapeti; attanā ca samādhisampanno hoti, parañca samādhisampadāya samādapeti, attanā ca paññāsampanno hoti, parañca paññāsampadāya samādapeti; attanā ca vimuttisampanno hoti, parañca vimuttisampadāya samādapeti; attanā ca vimuttiñāṇadassanasampanno hoti, parañca vimuttiñāṇadassanasampadāya samādapeti. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu attahitāya ca paṭipanno hoti parahitāya cā”ti.
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with five qualities is practicing for both their own welfare and that of others. What five? It’s when a bhikkhu is personally accomplished in ethics, immersion, wisdom, freedom, and the knowledge and vision of freedom. And they encourage others in these qualities. A bhikkhu with these five qualities is practicing both for their own welfare and that of others.”

तस्सुद्दानं
Tassuddānaṁ
अननुस्सुतकूटञ्च, सङ्खित्तं वित्थतेन च; दट्ठब्बञ्च पुन कूटं, चत्तारोपि हितेन चाति।
Ananussutakūṭañca, saṅkhittaṁ vitthatena ca; Daṭṭhabbañca puna kūṭaṁ, cattāropi hitena cāti.
