CCND1 wt Allele
Human CCND1 wild-type allele is located within 11q13 and is approximately 13 kb in length. This allele, which encodes G1/S-specific cyclin-D1 protein, plays a role in the regulation of the cell cycle during the G1/S transition. Aberrant allelic expression caused by mutations, amplification and overexpression alters cell cycle progression. These abnormal alterations have been frequently identified in a variety of tumors and may contribute to tumorigenesis. (NCI Thesaurus)
