Cell Fusion
A technique to form a single hybrid cell, by fusion of two or more dissimilar cells, either spontaneously or by induced fusion. The cells fuse and coalesce, but their nuclei may remain separated. The cell fusion technique can be used as a method of assigning genes to specific chromosomes. (NCI Thesaurus)
