    Collinsella aerofaciens

    Definition 1

    A species of obligately anaerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacterium in the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is non-motile, nonsporulating, produces acid from maltose, lactose and glucose but not xylose, glycogen, sorbitol or inositol. C. aerofaciens is part of the intestinal microflora of humans and animals and is not considered to be pathogenic. (NCI Thesaurus)
