    Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis

    Definition 1

    A species of aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, Gram-positive, coryneform, pleomorphic bacilli assigned to the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is nonmotile, non-spore forming, catalase and urease positive, oxidase and pyrazinamidase negative, non-lipophilic, reduces nitrate, and does not hydrolyze gelatin. C. pseudotuberculosis is known to cause caseous lymphadenitis in animals and can be pathogenic in humans. (NCI Thesaurus)
