CTX

Definition 1

A drug that is used to treat many types of cancer and is being studied in the treatment of other types of cancer. It is also used to treat some types of kidney disease in children. CTX attaches to DNA in cells and may kill cancer cells. It is a type of alkylating agent. Also called cyclophosphamide and Cytoxan. (NCI Dictionary)

Definition 2

A substance being studied in the diagnosis and treatment of glioma (a type of brain cancer) and other types of cancer. It binds to cancer cells in the brain and peripheral nervous system and may keep them from spreading. CTX comes from the venom of a type of scorpion. A form of CTX made in the laboratory is called TM-601. CTX is a type of neurotoxin. Also called chlorotoxin. (NCI Dictionary)
