This is an English translation from the Pāli by the great buddhist scholar T. W. Rhys Davids (1843-1922) of the first 13 suttas in the Dīgha Nikāya.
Dialogues of The Buddha, vol. 1, was published in 1899 in the series called "The Sacred Books of the Buddhists" (volume II in this series) edited by F. Max Müller. It was followed by Dialogues of The Buddha, vol. 2 and vol. 3.
