    Going on a Mission

    “អដ្ឋហិ, ភិក្ខវេ, ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ ភិក្ខុ ទូតេយ្យំ គន្តុមរហតិ។ កតមេហិ អដ្ឋហិ? ឥធ, ភិក្ខវេ, ភិក្ខុ សោតា ច ហោតិ, សាវេតា ច, ឧគ្គហេតា ច, ធារេតា ច, វិញ្ញាតា ច, វិញ្ញាបេតា ច, កុសលោ ច សហិតាសហិតស្ស, នោ ច កលហការកោ—ឥមេហិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អដ្ឋហិ ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ ភិក្ខុ ទូតេយ្យំ គន្តុមរហតិ។

    “Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with eight qualities is worthy of going on a mission. What eight? It’s a bhikkhu who learns and educates others. They memorize and remember. They understand and help others understand. They’re skilled at knowing what’s on topic and what isn’t. And they don’t cause quarrels. A bhikkhu with these eight qualities is worthy of going on a mission.

    អដ្ឋហិ, ភិក្ខវេ, ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ សារិបុត្តោ ទូតេយ្យំ គន្តុមរហតិ។ កតមេហិ អដ្ឋហិ? ឥធ, ភិក្ខវេ, សារិបុត្តោ សោតា ច ហោតិ, សាវេតា ច, ឧគ្គហេតា ច, ធារេតា ច, វិញ្ញាតា ច, វិញ្ញាបេតា ច, កុសលោ ច សហិតាសហិតស្ស, នោ ច កលហការកោ។ ឥមេហិ ខោ, ភិក្ខវេ, អដ្ឋហិ ធម្មេហិ សមន្នាគតោ សារិបុត្តោ ទូតេយ្យំ គន្តុមរហតីតិ។

    Having eight qualities Sāriputta is worthy of going on a mission. What eight? He learns and educates others. He memorizes and remembers. He understands and helps others understand. He’s skilled at knowing what’s on topic and what isn’t. And he doesn’t cause quarrels. Having these eight qualities Sāriputta is worthy of going on a mission.

    យោ វេ ន ព្យថតិ បត្វា, បរិសំ ឧគ្គវាទិនិំ; ន ច ហាបេតិ វចនំ, ន ច ឆាទេតិ សាសនំ។

    They don’t tremble when arriving at an assembly of fierce debaters. They don’t miss out any words, or conceal the instructions.

    អសន្ទិទ្ធញ្ច ភណតិ, បុច្ឆិតោ ន ច កុប្បតិ; ស វេ តាទិសកោ ភិក្ខុ, ទូតេយ្យំ គន្តុមរហតី”តិ។

    Their words aren’t poisoned, and they don’t tremble when questioned. Such a bhikkhu is worthy of going on a mission.”
