“सत्तहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च। कतमेहि सत्तहि? इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु लाभकामो च होति, सक्कारकामो च होति, अनवञ्ञत्तिकामो च होति, अहिरिको च होति, अनोत्तप्पी च, इस्सुकी च, मच्छरी च। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, सत्तहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च।
“Sattahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi sattahi? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu lābhakāmo ca hoti, sakkārakāmo ca hoti, anavaññattikāmo ca hoti, ahiriko ca hoti, anottappī ca, issukī ca, maccharī ca. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, sattahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca.
“Bhikkhus, a bhikkhu with seven qualities is disliked and disapproved by their spiritual companions, not respected or admired. What seven? It’s when a bhikkhu desires material possessions, honor, and to be looked up to. They lack conscience and prudence. They’re jealous and stingy. A bhikkhu with these seven qualities is disliked and disapproved by their spiritual companions, not respected or admired.
सत्तहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं पियो च होति मनापो च गरु च भावनीयो च। कतमेहि सत्तहि? इध, भिक्खवे, भिक्खु न लाभकामो च होति, न सक्कारकामो च होति, न अनवञ्ञत्तिकामो च होति, हिरीमा च होति, ओत्तप्पी च, अनिस्सुकी च, अमच्छरी च। इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, सत्तहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं पियो च होति मनापो च गरु च भावनीयो चा”ति।
Sattahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ piyo ca hoti manāpo ca garu ca bhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi sattahi? Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu na lābhakāmo ca hoti, na sakkārakāmo ca hoti, na anavaññattikāmo ca hoti, hirīmā ca hoti, ottappī ca, anissukī ca, amaccharī ca. Imehi kho, bhikkhave, sattahi dhammehi samannāgato bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ piyo ca hoti manāpo ca garu ca bhāvanīyo cā”ti.
A bhikkhu with seven qualities is liked and approved by their spiritual companions, respected and admired. What seven? It’s when a bhikkhu doesn’t desire material possessions, honor, and to be looked up to. They have conscience and prudence. They’re not jealous or stingy. A bhikkhu with these seven qualities is liked and approved by their spiritual companions, respected and admired.”
