First Absorption (2nd)
“छ, भिक्खवे, धम्मे अप्पहाय अभब्बो पठमं झानं उपसम्पज्ज विहरितुं। कतमे छ? कामवितक्कं, ब्यापादवितक्कं, विहिंसावितक्कं, कामसञ्ञं, ब्यापादसञ्ञं, विहिंसासञ्ञं—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, छ धम्मे अप्पहाय अभब्बो पठमं झानं उपसम्पज्ज विहरितुं।
“Cha, bhikkhave, dhamme appahāya abhabbo paṭhamaṁ jhānaṁ upasampajja viharituṁ. Katame cha? Kāmavitakkaṁ, byāpādavitakkaṁ, vihiṁsāvitakkaṁ, kāmasaññaṁ, byāpādasaññaṁ, vihiṁsāsaññaṁ—ime kho, bhikkhave, cha dhamme appahāya abhabbo paṭhamaṁ jhānaṁ upasampajja viharituṁ.
“Bhikkhus, without giving up these six qualities you can’t enter and remain in the first jhāna. What six? Sensual, malicious, and cruel thoughts; and sensual, malicious, and cruel perceptions. Without giving up these six qualities you can’t enter and remain in the first jhāna.
छ, भिक्खवे, धम्मे पहाय भब्बो पठमं झानं उपसम्पज्ज विहरितुं। कतमे छ? कामवितक्कं, ब्यापादवितक्कं, विहिंसावितक्कं, कामसञ्ञं, ब्यापादसञ्ञं, विहिंसासञ्ञं—इमे खो, भिक्खवे, छ धम्मे पहाय भब्बो पठमं झानं उपसम्पज्ज विहरितुन्”ति।

अनागामि अरहं मित्ता, सङ्गणिकारामदेवता; समाधिसक्खिभब्बं बलं, तज्झाना अपरे दुवेति।
Anāgāmi arahaṁ mittā, saṅgaṇikārāmadevatā; Samādhisakkhibhabbaṁ balaṁ, tajjhānā apare duveti.
