Incredible Things About the Realized One (2nd)
“तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा चत्तारो अच्छरिया अब्भुता धम्मा पातुभवन्ति। कतमे चत्तारो?
“Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā cattāro acchariyā abbhutā dhammā pātubhavanti. Katame cattāro?
“Bhikkhus, with the appearance of a Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha, four incredible and amazing things appear. What four?
आलयारामा, भिक्खवे, पजा आलयरता आलयसम्मुदिता; सा तथागतेन अनालये धम्मे देसियमाने सुस्सूसति सोतं ओदहति अञ्ञा चित्तं उपट्ठपेति। तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा अयं पठमो अच्छरियो अब्भुतो धम्मो पातुभवति।
Ālayārāmā, bhikkhave, pajā ālayaratā ālayasammuditā; sā tathāgatena anālaye dhamme desiyamāne sussūsati sotaṁ odahati aññā cittaṁ upaṭṭhapeti. Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā ayaṁ paṭhamo acchariyo abbhuto dhammo pātubhavati.
People like clinging, they love it and enjoy it. Yet when a Realized One is teaching the Dhamma of non-clinging, they want to listen, they actively listen, and they try to understand. This is the first incredible and amazing thing that appears with the appearance of a Realized One.
मानारामा, भिक्खवे, पजा मानरता मानसम्मुदिता। सा तथागतेन मानविनये धम्मे देसियमाने सुस्सूसति सोतं ओदहति अञ्ञा चित्तं उपट्ठपेति। तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा अयं दुतियो अच्छरियो अब्भुतो धम्मो पातुभवति।
Mānārāmā, bhikkhave, pajā mānaratā mānasammuditā. Sā tathāgatena mānavinaye dhamme desiyamāne sussūsati sotaṁ odahati aññā cittaṁ upaṭṭhapeti. Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā ayaṁ dutiyo acchariyo abbhuto dhammo pātubhavati.
People like conceit, they love it and enjoy it. Yet when a Realized One is teaching the Dhamma of removing conceit, they want to listen, they actively listen, and they try to understand. This is the second incredible and amazing thing that appears with the appearance of a Realized One.
अनुपसमारामा, भिक्खवे, पजा अनुपसमरता अनुपसमसम्मुदिता। सा तथागतेन ओपसमिके धम्मे देसियमाने सुस्सूसति सोतं ओदहति अञ्ञा चित्तं उपट्ठपेति। तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा अयं ततियो अच्छरियो अब्भुतो धम्मो पातुभवति।
Anupasamārāmā, bhikkhave, pajā anupasamaratā anupasamasammuditā. Sā tathāgatena opasamike dhamme desiyamāne sussūsati sotaṁ odahati aññā cittaṁ upaṭṭhapeti. Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā ayaṁ tatiyo acchariyo abbhuto dhammo pātubhavati.
People like excitement, they love it and enjoy it. Yet when a Realized One is teaching the Dhamma of peace, they want to listen, they actively listen, and they try to understand. This is the third incredible and amazing thing that appears with the appearance of a Realized One.
अविज्जागता, भिक्खवे, पजा अण्डभूता परियोनद्धा। सा तथागतेन अविज्जाविनये धम्मे देसियमाने सुस्सूसति सोतं ओदहति अञ्ञा चित्तं उपट्ठपेति। तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा अयं चतुत्थो अच्छरियो अब्भुतो धम्मो पातुभवति।
Avijjāgatā, bhikkhave, pajā aṇḍabhūtā pariyonaddhā. Sā tathāgatena avijjāvinaye dhamme desiyamāne sussūsati sotaṁ odahati aññā cittaṁ upaṭṭhapeti. Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā ayaṁ catuttho acchariyo abbhuto dhammo pātubhavati.
This population is lost in ignorance, trapped in their shells. Yet when a Realized One is teaching the Dhamma of removing ignorance, they want to listen, they actively listen, and they try to understand. This is the fourth incredible and amazing thing that appears with the appearance of a Realized One.
तथागतस्स, भिक्खवे, अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स पातुभावा इमे चत्तारो अच्छरिया अब्भुता धम्मा पातुभवन्ती”ति।
Tathāgatassa, bhikkhave, arahato sammāsambuddhassa pātubhāvā ime cattāro acchariyā abbhutā dhammā pātubhavantī”ti.
With the appearance of a Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha, four incredible and amazing things appear.”
