Efungumab
A human single-chain variable fragment of a monoclonal antibody against fungal Hsp90 with anti-fungal activity. Efungumab binds to heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) located on the fungal cell surface, thereby preventing cell wall synthesis and repair. This decreases the integrity of the fungal cell wall and prevents further fungal cell growth. In addition, as Hsp90 is a molecular chaperone, inhibition of its function may increase the cytotoxic effect of other antifungal agents. (NCI Thesaurus)
