    “एकपुग्गलो, भिक्खवे, लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति बहुजनहिताय बहुजनसुखाय लोकानुकम्पाय अत्थाय हिताय सुखाय देवमनुस्सानं। कतमो एकपुग्गलो? तथागतो अरहं सम्मासम्बुद्धो। अयं खो, भिक्खवे, एकपुग्गलो लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति बहुजनहिताय बहुजनसुखाय लोकानुकम्पाय अत्थाय हिताय सुखाय देवमनुस्सानन्”ति।

    “Ekapuggalo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamāno uppajjati bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānaṁ. Katamo ekapuggalo? Tathāgato arahaṁ sammāsambuddho. Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalo loke uppajjamāno uppajjati bahujanahitāya bahujanasukhāya lokānukampāya atthāya hitāya sukhāya devamanussānan”ti.

    “One person, bhikkhus, arises in the world for the welfare and happiness of the people, out of compassion for the world, for the benefit, welfare, and happiness of gods and humans. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person, bhikkhus, who arises in the world for the welfare and happiness of the people, out of compassion for the world, for the benefit, welfare, and happiness of gods and humans.”

    “एकपुग्गलस्स, भिक्खवे, पातुभावो दुल्लभो लोकस्मिं। कतमस्स एकपुग्गलस्स? तथागतस्स अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स। इमस्स खो, भिक्खवे, एकपुग्गलस्स पातुभावो दुल्लभो लोकस्मिन्”ति।

    “Ekapuggalassa, bhikkhave, pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmiṁ. Katamassa ekapuggalassa? Tathāgatassa arahato sammāsambuddhassa. Imassa kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalassa pātubhāvo dullabho lokasmin”ti.

    “The appearance of one person, bhikkhus, is rare in the world. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person, bhikkhus, whose appearance is rare in the world.”

    “एकपुग्गलो, भिक्खवे, लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति अच्छरियमनुस्सो। कतमो एकपुग्गलो? तथागतो अरहं सम्मासम्बुद्धो। अयं खो, भिक्खवे, एकपुग्गलो लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति अच्छरियमनुस्सो”ति।

    “Ekapuggalo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamāno uppajjati acchariyamanusso. Katamo ekapuggalo? Tathāgato arahaṁ sammāsambuddho. Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalo loke uppajjamāno uppajjati acchariyamanusso”ti.

    “One person, bhikkhus, arises in the world who is an incredible human being. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person, bhikkhus, who arises in the world who is an incredible human being.”

    “एकपुग्गलस्स, भिक्खवे, कालकिरिया बहुनो जनस्स अनुतप्पा होति। कतमस्स एकपुग्गलस्स? तथागतस्स अरहतो सम्मासम्बुद्धस्स। इमस्स खो, भिक्खवे, एकपुग्गलस्स कालकिरिया बहुनो जनस्स अनुतप्पा होती”ति।

    “Ekapuggalassa, bhikkhave, kālakiriyā bahuno janassa anutappā1 hoti. Katamassa ekapuggalassa? Tathāgatassa arahato sammāsambuddhassa. Imassa kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalassa kālakiriyā bahuno janassa anutappā hotī”ti.

    “The death of one person, bhikkhus, is regretted by many people. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person, bhikkhus, whose death is regretted by many people.”

    “एकपुग्गलो, भिक्खवे, लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति अदुतियो असहायो अप्पटिमो अप्पटिसमो अप्पटिभागो अप्पटिपुग्गलो असमो असमसमो द्विपदानं अग्गो। कतमो एकपुग्गलो? तथागतो अरहं सम्मासम्बुद्धो। अयं खो, भिक्खवे, एकपुग्गलो लोके उप्पज्जमानो उप्पज्जति अदुतियो असहायो अप्पटिमो अप्पटिसमो अप्पटिभागो अप्पटिपुग्गलो असमो असमसमो द्विपदानं अग्गो”ति।

    “Ekapuggalo, bhikkhave, loke uppajjamāno uppajjati adutiyo asahāyo appaṭimo appaṭisamo appaṭibhāgo appaṭipuggalo asamo asamasamo dvipadānaṁ aggo. Katamo ekapuggalo? Tathāgato arahaṁ sammāsambuddho. Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekapuggalo loke uppajjamāno uppajjati adutiyo asahāyo appaṭimo appaṭisamo appaṭibhāgo appaṭipuggalo asamo asamasamo dvipadānaṁ aggo”ti.

    “One person, bhikkhus, arises in the world unique, without peer or counterpart, incomparable, matchless, unrivaled, unequaled, without equal, the best of men. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person, bhikkhus, who arises in the world unique, without peer or counterpart, incomparable, matchless, unrivaled, unequaled, without equal, the best of men.”

    “Ekapuggalassa, bhikkhave, pātubhāvā mahato cakkhussa pātubhāvo hoti, mahato ālokassa pātubhāvo hoti, mahato obhāsassa pātubhāvo hoti, channaṁ anuttariyānaṁ pātubhāvo hoti, catunnaṁ paṭisambhidānaṁ sacchikiriyā hoti, anekadhātupaṭivedho hoti, nānādhātupaṭivedho hoti, vijjāvimuttiphalasacchikiriyā hoti, sotāpattiphalasacchikiriyā hoti, sakadāgāmiphalasacchikiriyā hoti, anāgāmiphalasacchikiriyā hoti, arahattaphalasacchikiriyā hoti. Katamassa ekapuggalassa? Tathāgatassa arahato sammāsambuddhassa.     “With the appearance of one person, bhikkhus, there is the appearance of a great eye, a great light, a great radiance, and the six unsurpassable things; the realization of the four kinds of textual analysis; the penetration of many and diverse elements; the realization of the fruit of knowledge and freedom; the realization of the fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection. What one person? The Realized One, the perfected one, the fully awakened Buddha. This is the one person whose appearance brings the appearance of a great eye, a great light, a great radiance, and the six unsurpassable things; the realization of the four kinds of textual analysis; the penetration of many and diverse elements; the realization of the fruit of knowledge and release; the realization of the fruits of stream-entry, once-return, non-return, and perfection.”

    “नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकपुग्गलम्पि समनुपस्सामि यो एवं तथागतेन अनुत्तरं धम्मचक्कं पवत्तितं सम्मदेव अनुप्पवत्तेति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, सारिपुत्तो। सारिपुत्तो, भिक्खवे, तथागतेन अनुत्तरं धम्मचक्कं पवत्तितं सम्मदेव अनुप्पवत्तेती”ति।

    “Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekapuggalampi samanupassāmi yo evaṁ tathāgatena anuttaraṁ dhammacakkaṁ pavattitaṁ sammadeva anuppavatteti yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, sāriputto. Sāriputto, bhikkhave, tathāgatena anuttaraṁ dhammacakkaṁ pavattitaṁ sammadeva anuppavattetī”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, I do not see a single other person who rightly keeps rolling the supreme Wheel of Dhamma that was rolled forth by the Realized One like Sāriputta. Sāriputta rightly keeps rolling the supreme Wheel of Dhamma that was rolled forth by the Realized One.”
