    Enterobacter asburiae

    Definition 1

    A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacterium in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is nonmotile, oxidase negative, ferments sucrose, hydrolyzes esculin and reduces nitrate. E. asburiae is endophytic in many plant species and an opportunistic pathogen in humans, causing community acquired pneumonia. (NCI Thesaurus)
