Acidic fibroblast growth factor stimulates tyrosine kinase activity of FGFR1, the receptor for acidic FGF. The receptor is a transmembrane protein that contains three extracellular Ig-like domains, an unusual acidic region, and an intracellular tyrosine kinase domain.
