One of a group of substances used to treat cancer. A fluoropyrimidine is a type of antimetabolite. Examples are capecitabine, floxuridine, and fluorouracil (5-FU). (NCI Dictionary)

Any fluoropyrimidine-based agent with potential antineoplastic activity. As an antimetabolite, a fluoropyrimidine interferes with pyrimidine utilization and incorporation into DNA and RNA. (NCI Thesaurus)
