    Follicle-stimulating hormone

    Pronunciation

    A hormone made in the pituitary gland. In females, it acts on the ovaries to make the follicles and eggs grow. In males, it acts on the testes to make sperm. Also called follitropin and FSH. (NCI Dictionary)
