    FUS wt Allele

Human FUS wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 16p11.2 and is approximately 12 kb in length. This allele, which encodes RNA-binding protein FUS, plays a role in the maintenance of genome integrity and the regulation of both RNA processing and gene expression. Mutation of the gene is associated with angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. Translocations of the gene are associated with malignant myxoid liposarcoma, acute myeloid leukemia and angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma. (NCI Thesaurus)
