Glycopyrrolate
A synthetic quaternary ammonium anticholinergic agent with antimuscarinic activity. Glycopyrrolate binds to peripheral muscarinic receptors and inhibits cholinergic transmission present in the autonomic effector cells of smooth muscle, cardiac muscle, the sinoatrial node, the atrioventricular node, exocrine glands, and in the autonomic ganglia. As a result, the volume and free acidity of gastric secretions and excessive pharyngeal, tracheal, and bronchial secretions are reduced. (NCI Thesaurus)
