Haptoglobin
Haptoglobin (406 aa, ~45 kDa) is encoded by the human HP gene. This protein plays a role in tight junction disassembly, intestinal permeability, heme iron recycling, antimicrobial activity and the regulation of hydrogen peroxide catabolism. (NCI Thesaurus)
