An aqueous therapeutic analogue of the endogenous cytokine interleukin-1-beta (IL-1-beta). Produced mainly by monocytes, endogenous IL-1-beta plays a role in hematopoiesis, is a potent stimulator of T-cell activity, and may promote or inhibit tumor growth, depending on tumor type. (NCI Thesaurus)
