    “नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकधम्मम्पि समनुपस्सामि येन अनुप्पन्ना वा कुसला धम्मा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना वा अकुसला धम्मा परिहायन्ति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, कल्याणमित्तता। कल्याणमित्तस्स, भिक्खवे, अनुप्पन्ना चेव कुसला धम्मा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना च अकुसला धम्मा परिहायन्ती”ति।

    “Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yena anuppannā vā kusalā dhammā uppajjanti uppannā vā akusalā dhammā parihāyanti yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, kalyāṇamittatā. Kalyāṇamittassa, bhikkhave, anuppannā ceva kusalā dhammā uppajjanti uppannā ca akusalā dhammā parihāyantī”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to skillful qualities, or makes unskillful qualities decline like good friends. When you have good friends, skillful qualities arise and unskillful qualities decline.”

    “नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकधम्मम्पि समनुपस्सामि येन अनुप्पन्ना वा अकुसला धम्मा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना वा कुसला धम्मा परिहायन्ति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, अनुयोगो अकुसलानं धम्मानं, अननुयोगो कुसलानं धम्मानं। अनुयोगा, भिक्खवे, अकुसलानं धम्मानं, अननुयोगा कुसलानं धम्मानं अनुप्पन्ना चेव अकुसला धम्मा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना च कुसला धम्मा परिहायन्ती”ति।

    “Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to unskillful qualities, or makes skillful qualities decline like pursuing bad habits and not good habits. When you pursue bad habits and not good habits, unskillful qualities arise and skillful qualities decline.”

    “नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकधम्मम्पि समनुपस्सामि येन अनुप्पन्ना वा बोज्झङ्गा नुप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना वा बोज्झङ्गा न भावनापारिपूरिं गच्छन्ति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, अयोनिसोमनसिकारो। अयोनिसो, भिक्खवे, मनसि करोतो अनुप्पन्ना चेव बोज्झङ्गा नुप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना च बोज्झङ्गा न भावनापारिपूरिं गच्छन्ती”ति।

    “Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yena anuppannā vā bojjhaṅgā nuppajjanti uppannā vā bojjhaṅgā na bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchanti yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, ayonisomanasikāro. Ayoniso, bhikkhave, manasi karoto anuppannā ceva bojjhaṅgā nuppajjanti uppannā ca bojjhaṅgā na bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchantī”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that prevents the awakening factors from arising, or, if they’ve already arisen, prevents them from being fully developed like irrational application of mind. When you apply the mind irrationally, the awakening factors don’t arise, or, if they’ve already arisen, they’re not fully developed.”

    “नाहं, भिक्खवे, अञ्ञं एकधम्मम्पि समनुपस्सामि येन अनुप्पन्ना वा बोज्झङ्गा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना वा बोज्झङ्गा भावनापारिपूरिं गच्छन्ति यथयिदं, भिक्खवे, योनिसोमनसिकारो। योनिसो, भिक्खवे, मनसि करोतो अनुप्पन्ना चेव बोज्झङ्गा उप्पज्जन्ति उप्पन्ना च बोज्झङ्गा भावनापारिपूरिं गच्छन्ती”ति।

    “Nāhaṁ, bhikkhave, aññaṁ ekadhammampi samanupassāmi yena anuppannā vā bojjhaṅgā uppajjanti uppannā vā bojjhaṅgā bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchanti yathayidaṁ, bhikkhave, yonisomanasikāro. Yoniso, bhikkhave, manasi karoto anuppannā ceva bojjhaṅgā uppajjanti uppannā ca bojjhaṅgā bhāvanāpāripūriṁ gacchantī”ti.

    “Bhikkhus, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to the awakening factors, or, if they’ve already arisen, fully develops them like rational application of mind. When you apply the mind rationally, the awakening factors arise, or, if they’ve already arisen, they’re fully developed.”

    “अप्पमत्तिका एसा, भिक्खवे, परिहानि यदिदं ञातिपरिहानि। एतं पतिकिट्ठं, भिक्खवे, परिहानीनं यदिदं पञ्ञापरिहानी”ति।

    “Appamattikā esā, bhikkhave, parihāni yadidaṁ ñātiparihāni. Etaṁ patikiṭṭhaṁ, bhikkhave, parihānīnaṁ yadidaṁ paññāparihānī”ti.

    “Loss of relatives, bhikkhus, is a small thing. Wisdom is the worst thing to lose.”

    “अप्पमत्तिका एसा, भिक्खवे, वुद्धि यदिदं ञातिवुद्धि। एतदग्गं, भिक्खवे, वुद्धीनं यदिदं पञ्ञावुद्धि।

    “Appamattikā esā, bhikkhave, vuddhi yadidaṁ ñātivuddhi. Etadaggaṁ, bhikkhave, vuddhīnaṁ yadidaṁ paññāvuddhi.

    “Growth of relatives, bhikkhus, is a small thing. Wisdom is the best thing to grow.

    तस्मातिह, भिक्खवे, एवं सिक्खितब्बं: ‘पञ्ञावुद्धिया वद्धिस्सामाऽति। एवञ्हि वो, भिक्खवे, सिक्खितब्बन्”ति।

    Tasmātiha, bhikkhave, evaṁ sikkhitabbaṁ: ‘paññāvuddhiyā vaddhissāmā’ti. Evañhi vo, bhikkhave, sikkhitabban”ti.

    So you should train like this: ‘We will grow in wisdom.’ That’s how you should train.”

    सत्तमं।
