“पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? कुहको च होति, लपको च, नेमित्तिको च, निप्पेसिको च, लाभेन च लाभं निजिगीसिता—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं अप्पियो च होति अमनापो च अगरु च अभावनीयो च।
“Pañcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca. Katamehi pañcahi? Kuhako ca hoti, lapako ca, nemittiko1 ca, nippesiko ca, lābhena ca lābhaṁ nijigīsitā—imehi kho, bhikkhave, pañcahi dhammehi samannāgato thero bhikkhu sabrahmacārīnaṁ appiyo ca hoti amanāpo ca agaru ca abhāvanīyo ca.
“Bhikkhus, a senior bhikkhu with five qualities is unlikable and unlovable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired. What five? They use deceit, flattery, hinting, and belittling, and they use material possessions to chase after other material possessions. A senior bhikkhu with these five qualities is unlikable and unlovable to their spiritual companions, not respected or admired.
पञ्चहि, भिक्खवे, धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं पियो च होति मनापो च गरु च भावनीयो च। कतमेहि पञ्चहि? न च कुहको होति, न च लपको, न च नेमित्तिको, न च निप्पेसिको, न च लाभेन लाभं निजिगीसिता—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्चहि धम्मेहि समन्नागतो थेरो भिक्खु सब्रह्मचारीनं पियो च होति मनापो च गरु च भावनीयो चा”ति।

A senior bhikkhu with five qualities is dear and beloved to their spiritual companions, respected and admired. What five?
