“ये ते, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू कुहा थद्धा लपा सिङ्गी उन्नळा असमाहिता, न मे ते, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू मामका। अपगता च ते, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू इमस्मा धम्मविनया, न च ते इमस्मिं धम्मविनये वुद्धिं विरुळ्हिं वेपुल्लं आपज्जन्ति।
“Ye te, bhikkhave, bhikkhū kuhā thaddhā lapā siṅgī unnaḷā asamāhitā, na me te, bhikkhave, bhikkhū māmakā. Apagatā ca te, bhikkhave, bhikkhū imasmā dhammavinayā, na ca te imasmiṁ dhammavinaye vuddhiṁ viruḷhiṁ vepullaṁ āpajjanti.
“Bhikkhus, those bhikkhus who are deceivers and flatterers, pompous and fake, insolent, and scattered: those bhikkhus are no followers of mine. They’ve left this teaching and training, and they don’t achieve growth, improvement, or maturity in this teaching and training.
ये च खो ते, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू निक्कुहा निल्लपा धीरा अत्थद्धा सुसमाहिता, ते खो मे, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू मामका। अनपगता च ते, भिक्खवे, भिक्खू इमस्मा धम्मविनया। ते च इमस्मिं धम्मविनये वुद्धिं विरुळ्हिं वेपुल्लं आपज्जन्तीति।
Ye ca kho te, bhikkhave, bhikkhū nikkuhā nillapā dhīrā atthaddhā susamāhitā, te kho me, bhikkhave, bhikkhū māmakā. Anapagatā ca te, bhikkhave, bhikkhū imasmā dhammavinayā. Te ca imasmiṁ dhammavinaye vuddhiṁ viruḷhiṁ vepullaṁ āpajjantīti.
But those bhikkhus who are genuine, not flatterers, wise, amenable, and serene: those bhikkhus are followers of mine. They haven’t left this teaching and training, and they achieve growth, improvement, or maturity in this teaching and training.
कुहा थद्धा लपा सिङ्गी, उन्नळा असमाहिता; न ते धम्मे विरूहन्ति, सम्मासम्बुद्धदेसिते।
Kuhā thaddhā lapā siṅgī, unnaḷā asamāhitā; Na te dhamme virūhanti, sammāsambuddhadesite.
Those who are deceivers and flatterers,
pompous and fake, insolent and scattered: these don’t grow in the teaching that was taught by the perfected Buddha.
निक्कुहा निल्लपा धीरा, अत्थद्धा सुसमाहिता; ते वे धम्मे विरूहन्ति, सम्मासम्बुद्धदेसिते”ति।
Nikkuhā nillapā dhīrā, atthaddhā susamāhitā; Te ve dhamme virūhanti, sammāsambuddhadesite”ti.
But those who are genuine, not flatterers, wise, amenable, and serene: these do grow in the teaching that was taught by the perfected Buddha.”
