    Legionella longbeachae

    Definition 1

    A species of aerobic, gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Proteobacteria. This species is motile, nonacid fast, nonencapsulated, nonfermentative and catalase positive. L. longbeachae is normally found in soil and potting compost and is pathogenic when inhaled, being the causative agent of Pontiac fever. (NCI Thesaurus)
