    Macrophage Inflammatory Protein 2, Beta

Chemokines are small, mostly basic, related molecules that regulate trafficking of leukocytes through interactions with GPCRs. There are two protein components of MIP1, alpha and beta. MIP-2 beta may play a role in inflammation and exert its effects on endothelial cells in an autocrine fashion. MIP-2 beta expression studies indicate tissue-specific regulation as well as by specific agents, including IL-1, TNF, and lipopolysaccharide.
