    Mannheimia haemolytica

    Definition 1

    A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Fusobacteria. This species is nonmotile, beta hemolytic, and ferments D sorbitol, D xylose and maltose, but not trehalose. M. haemolytica is a commensal organism of the upper respiratory tract of ruminants but may become pathogenic, causing pneumonia. (NCI Thesaurus)
