Human MEAF6 wild-type allele is located within 1p35.3-p33 and is approximately 22 kb in length. This allele, which encodes chromatin modification-related protein MEAF6, plays a role in histone acetylation. A fusion of this gene and the PHF1 gene may be associated with low-grade endometrial stromal sarcomas. (NCI Thesaurus)
