Meningeal Layer of the Dura Mater

The inner layer of the dura mater surrounding the brain. It is mostly fused with the outer layer, the endocranium that is adherent to the inner aspect of the cranial bones. These two layers form the dura mater. The latter covers and protects the brain and the spinal cord. (NCI Thesaurus)
