    Methacarn

    A liquid preservative for cytological materials, consisting of methanol and glacial acetic acid in an approximately 3:1 ratio. It is typically used on tissues to be paraffin-embedded and immunochemically stained and is useful for the preservation of nucleic acids in situ. (NCI Thesaurus)
