Micrococcus luteus
Definition 1
A genus of obligately aerobic, Gram positive, cocci shaped bacteria in the phylum Actinobacteria. This species is halotolerant, coagulase negative, susceptible to bacitracin and does not ferment glucose. M. luteus is found in soil, dust, water and air and is a commensal organism of the skin, mouth and upper respiratory tract but may be considered pathogenic in immunocompromised individuals.
