    Microfilament Protein

    Definition 1

Structurally complex proteins that are comprised of microfilaments, which are necessary components of the cellular cytoskeleton for motility and shape. Microfilaments physically associate with microtubules to play a structural role in cytoskeleton integrity. (NCI Thesaurus)

    Definition 2

Filaments which are composed primarily of actin and found in the cytoplasmic matrix of almost all cells. They are often associated with microtubules and may play a role in cytoskeletal function and/or mediate movement of the cell or the organelles within the cell. (NLM, Medical Subject Headings)
