Mittasutta
A Friend
“तीहि, भिक्खवे, अङ्गेहि समन्नागतो मित्तो सेवितब्बो। कतमेहि तीहि? (…) दुद्ददं ददाति, दुक्करं करोति, दुक्खमं खमति—इमेहि खो, भिक्खवे, तीहि अङ्गेहि समन्नागतो मित्तो सेवितब्बो”ति।
“Tīhi, bhikkhave, aṅgehi samannāgato mitto sevitabbo. Katamehi tīhi? (…) Duddadaṁ dadāti, dukkaraṁ karoti, dukkhamaṁ khamati—imehi kho, bhikkhave, tīhi aṅgehi samannāgato mitto sevitabbo”ti.
“Bhikkhus, you should associate with a friend who has three factors. What three? They give what is hard to give, they do what is hard to do, and they bear what is hard to bear. You should associate with a friend who has these three factors.”
