Definition 2
A fluoroquinolone antibiotic with antibacterial activity. Moxifloxacin binds to and inhibits the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, resulting in inhibition of DNA replication and repair and cell death in sensitive bacterial species. (NCI Thesaurus)
