Unmindful
“पञ्चिमे, भिक्खवे, आदीनवा मुट्ठस्सतिस्स असम्पजानस्स निद्दं ओक्कमयतो। कतमे पञ्च? दुक्खं सुपति, दुक्खं पटिबुज्झति, पापकं सुपिनं पस्सति, देवता न रक्खन्ति, असुचि मुच्चति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्च आदीनवा मुट्ठस्सतिस्स असम्पजानस्स निद्दं ओक्कमयतो।
“Pañcime, bhikkhave, ādīnavā muṭṭhassatissa asampajānassa niddaṁ okkamayato. Katame pañca? Dukkhaṁ supati, dukkhaṁ paṭibujjhati, pāpakaṁ supinaṁ passati, devatā na rakkhanti, asuci muccati. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ādīnavā muṭṭhassatissa asampajānassa niddaṁ okkamayato.
“Bhikkhus, there are these five drawbacks of falling asleep unmindful and unaware. What five? You sleep badly and wake miserably. You have bad dreams. The deities don’t protect you. And you emit semen. These are the five drawbacks of falling asleep unmindful and unaware.
पञ्चिमे, भिक्खवे, आनिसंसा उपट्ठितस्सतिस्स सम्पजानस्स निद्दं ओक्कमयतो। कतमे पञ्च? सुखं सुपति, सुखं पटिबुज्झति, न पापकं सुपिनं पस्सति, देवता रक्खन्ति, असुचि न मुच्चति। इमे खो, भिक्खवे, पञ्च आनिसंसा उपट्ठितस्सतिस्स सम्पजानस्स निद्दं ओक्कमयतो”ति।
Pañcime, bhikkhave, ānisaṁsā upaṭṭhitassatissa sampajānassa niddaṁ okkamayato. Katame pañca? Sukhaṁ supati, sukhaṁ paṭibujjhati, na pāpakaṁ supinaṁ passati, devatā rakkhanti, asuci na muccati. Ime kho, bhikkhave, pañca ānisaṁsā upaṭṭhitassatissa sampajānassa niddaṁ okkamayato”ti.
There are these five benefits of falling asleep mindful and aware. What five? You sleep at ease and wake happily. You don’t have bad dreams. The deities protect you. And you don’t emit semen. These are the five benefits of falling asleep mindful and aware.”

किमिलो धम्मस्सवनं, आजानीयो बलं खिलं; विनिबन्धं यागु कट्ठं, गीतं मुट्ठस्सतिना चाति।
Kimilo dhammassavanaṁ, ājānīyo balaṁ khilaṁ; Vinibandhaṁ yāgu kaṭṭhaṁ, gītaṁ muṭṭhassatinā cāti.
