    Myofibroblast

A spindle-shaped cell that exhibits characteristics of both fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. It has an elongated nucleus and does not have basal lamina. The cytoplasm can be distinguished from the surrounding matrix because of actin filaments, myosin and other muscle proteins arranged to suggest a contractile ability. (NCI Thesaurus)
